5 Marketing Predictions for 2025
I made my first dollar online at 19 and have watched every digital marketing trend that has come across the field since them.
My biggest regret is not participating deeper and really going all in on the opportunities I had when I had them.
A couple that come time mind are not creating on TikTok in 2018/2019 even tho I was encouraging my friends & clients to do so, recording podcasts with 4 well known social media personalities before they were famous in 2017 but not posting them, not starting a newsletter / personal brand back in 2015. You get the picture.
Now, as a 32 year old, I can appreciate the choices I made while simultaneously focusing more on creating the world I truly want for myself which also entails marketing and building income online. After getting back in the trenches 1.5 years ago and building clients online businesses to 25k a month plus, I’m seeing trends that are dying again and others that I think will take off.
Here are 5 predictions for 2025
Less Edited Content & Day in the Life
With the rise of TikTok & hyper-edited ADHD-style content on social media we saw the increase of, “in your face,” everything looks the same content. Why is everyone yelling? It became this attention grab of whoever can supply the most amount of dopamine and attention-grabbing wins. To me, it made the content worse. Granted, there was a lot more humor, but overall corny & truly limited in value.
My prediction is that people will crave more 2016-2018 style content that is more storytelling-based, longer edits (3 to 5 minutes), and something that actually is truly authentic in a behind-the-scenes type of way versus hyper-curated perfection. Personally, I’ll be spending time on YouTube & Instagram. Vertical for IG and horizontal for YT. Leaving Tiktok out of my 2025 media strategy for now.
Intimacy & Community Interaction > Self Serve Courses
Classes, workshops & courses are still doing well - but the caveat is that the only ones doing well have a live element to them. Most consumers don’t finish a course they bought., the ones that do did it with a cohort where everyone was doing the same thing at the same time. You are the golden goose of your brand & product, not the information. the reality is they can get the same information on Udemy or in a couple of books for a fraction of the cost. They want to interact with you on a real level which plays off of the first prediction of the day in the life. If you are selling digital products, focus on selling something that is 1on1 or has a live interaction element to it.
Branding for the Long Haul
A couple of years ago, good branding meant hyper-edited graphics & aesthetics, then people started shifting away from that and it’s starting to make a comeback with a catch. If you are not super consistent with your messaging, your positioning and your content is not relevant, your brand vibe doesn’t mean shit. People are becoming much more conscious of cash grabs from influencers, creators, etc. Branding is a long game, the best I’ve seen online is individuals who have minimal aesthetics and go super heavy on the consistency of their messaging. Day after day.
2 Examples of individuals who embody this:
Nick Komadina - 7-figure fitness coach turned business coach with 1 offer that services 3 avatars of clients based on revenue. Super consistent messaging, minimal aesthetic & branding. He and his messaging is the brand.
Kendall Strampel - Business Coach for female fitness entrepreneurs. Again, super consistent messaging, high community involvement & promo, simple green & white colors. Transparent personality vs hyper-curated content is winning here.
“Funnels” will become nearly outdated
Back in the day, a funnel was this. Traffic > Sales Page. Then it was. Traffic > Optin page > Email Sequence > Checkout Page.
Now, depending on your niche and product, it could have like 3-5 more steps to nurture and convert your customer. Paid traffic is becoming more expensive. Less people are converting but there are still people killing it out there. The one thing I’ve seen these people have in common is they are not asking for a sale on a daily weekly basis but rather focusing on building intimacy & rapport with clients they want for a 6 to 12-month offer. They are doing this intentionally because customers are looking at your whole presence online now rather than just your one offer. They are peering into your entire world, rather than just believing whatever is on the landing page they end up on from clicking on the ad.
How you win is by making your online presence your whole funnel, not just your lead magnets.
Less Customers, More Revenue
If you looked at the traditional affiliate or ecom offer, they want a big sale up front so they collect the most profit. The issue is that most of these styles of offers produce very low customer retention. A lot of those big-name influencers have super low customer loyalty. You know the ones, who all rent the same damn cars & mansions for their shoots. They spend huge money on these big launches sell terrible courses & products and rinse and repeat to a new audience. For me personally, all of my clients are repeat buyers. And this is where you should be focusing.
Increasing LTV of a client & customer. Maybe this means more intimacy, random online meetups, a few more freebies & give aways here and there. It’s going to cost way more to acquire a new customer in 2025 so maximize what you have when you have it. You do that by actually providing the golden road to their transformation point. This leads me to my final point….
Most online business owners fall into either the physical product or the info product space. ( I consider coaching an info product in this context) Your product needs to be able to actually provide not just a state change, but an actual measured change & transformation in their life. If you can do this within 1 to 3 days of purchase, then you have a lifelong customer who will only work harder with you rather than resisting the work all the way. Aim for 200 raving fans who will buy anything from you rather than 100k followers who barely engage with your content unless its “trendy.”
Whether you have a personal brand, a physical product brand or just starting to engage with ways to make money online. My advice to you is to think in 3 to 5 years of success. Get good at just getting started and putting your ideas out there. Don’t procrastinate like I did or you will miss out on a lot of opportunity and things are just going to change faster and faster.
